Helping people survive disasters!
Just going by worldwide reports on the Internet, we realize how many problems people are experiencing. In pretty well all of the cases reported, few folks are prepared for any disaster and often survival has never been discussed. During a tornado or floods, many people perish, mostly because of natural causes. However, thousands may have been saved if they had been prepared to survive these monstrosities if they only had thought about securing certain necessities of life to keep them and their family members from starvation. Putting together a Survival kit does not take much time. Such kits are readily available. Making notes to establish what an average family needs to keep them safe and well protected, is a wise move. Do it now please before it is too late?
Not only during disasters as mentioned here above, but an ordinary camping trip to a mountainous area or a Provincial or State Park, could cause many problems. All members of your party should be protected for at least a couple of days. You may experience property damage and the right Tools on hand would certainly give you an opportunity to perform necessary repairs.
On the other hand and depending on the circumstances; during disasters tempers go wild because, as a rule, people who have not ever experienced a disaster, a flood, a fire or even a vehicle accident, don’t know what to expect. Kids become angry, they can’t find any food or drinks and start stealing from each other. The elderly in your party may never have experienced shortages of hygiene and lack of necessary facilities and start fussing quickly. Youngsters seem to become hungry faster than during normal circumstances. They may also be looking for something to do. Curiosity takes your members away from the accident and often they endanger their own lives by not listening to advice as offered by parents or even the leaders of a group. Stay with your family!
Most folks have some idea what to expect in case of a disaster even though they seldom bring whatever is necessary to save their family from starvation during an emergency.
It is recommended to discuss a potential incident prior to leaving home. In most cases, at least the travelling partners, family or friends are made aware of the dangers one could face. The rest is up to you.
Factory layoffs could also turn into a disaster. One does not want to think of it, but it happens, time and time again. Workers, white collar and blue collar alike, may face Company Restructuring. CEO’S may claim poor demand for their product or overseas competition. Economic hardship is prevalent everywhere. Pink slips are handed out by the hundreds. Now what? It would have been nice that those folks who are expecting their layoff notice, had a good supply of food stored somewhere, so they would prevent the family members from starvation.
However, most folks may have talked about it but did not act properly. Without a steady income, who is paying the mortgage, the car payment, insurance? We all have seen some of our neighbours turning to a food bank because the families ran out of food
During disastrous events or accidents, choices of comfort are missing, so, give your family and others in your party priority, so they will not suffer unnecessarily. Think of toilet facilities. Oh yes remember 2011 wind and snowstorms? Some blankets would have been nice... if you had them in your car, van or truck.
